Re: What's your gaming rig?

:right: It's hard work stimulating the economy, but someone has to do it. :left:

Here's the new box I am putting together.

CASE: Cooler Master COSMOS S.

PSU: SILVERSTONE OP1000-E 1000W.

MOBO: Asus Maximus II Formula.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad 3GHz 1333 MHz 12 MB (Q9650).

MEMORY: G.Skill F2 6400 CL4D-4GBPI-B.

GRAPHICS: Asus EAH4870X2/HTDI/2G.

COOLING:
Cooler Master Aquagate Max.
2x Noctua NF-P12 120mm case fans.
Arctic Silver 5 goo.

HARD DRIVES: 4x Barracuda 7200.11 SATA II 3Gb/s 500GB 32MB Cache (RAID 0+1?).

DVD/CD-ROM: Asus DRW-1814BLT SATA 18x DVD±RW/RAM (from my old rig).

MOUSE: Logitech USB TrackBall TrackMan Wheel.

KEYBOARD: My old M$ Internet keyboard.

OS: Windows XP Pro 64bit

I intend to O/C the beast to 4GHz. All the parts have been ordered (except the Zalman CPU cooler block - waiting for suppliers to to get back to me on that) and the case, RAM, vid card, mobo, OS, PSU have arrived. The CPU is shipping from the USA as Intel have stealthily ceased production of the Q9660s (less than 6 months after launching them). There are none left for sale in NZ, nor any more ever coming. Whole shebang ended up costing me just over 1/2 what an i7/DDR3 system (without the case) would. Slapped it on the credit card and next month I will pay that off by transferring it to my overdraft, thereby paying no interest on the credit card and less than 1/2 the credit card interest rate on the overdraft. Hopefully I can clear that debt before the rig is obsolete.

Current Rig:

» Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit SP1
» Intel E8400 Core 2 Duo @ 3.5Ghz
» BFG 650i Ultra
» Corsair XMS2 4GB PC2-6400
» BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC 512MB
» 500GB SATA2 (WD 7200RPM 32MB Cache)
» 2TB RAID 5 (3x Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB)
» Acer X223Wbd 22" 5ms 2500:1 LCD
» Razer Lycosa
» Wolf King Warrior (Red)
» Microsoft/Razer Habu Laser Mouse
» BFG 550 Watt Dual +12V Rail
» 1.5Mbs/768Kbs

My next upgrade will be a new case. This current one, which used to house my Athlon XP rig, barely fits the 8800 GT so I'll need to upgrade my case before I jump to something in the 200 series. I also need room for more 1Tb drives to expand my RAID 5 :D

These pics have my old 19" LCD monitor in them. I'll throw up a new one tonight with the 22" :)

lol I guess you can see those. There are currently 6 on the wall in chronological order:

386, 486, Pentium (586), Pentium Pro (686), Pentium II (686), Pentium III (686)

Don't have the heart to put up a P4 (786) yet since they're still worth using. I have a few at the house but they still work so when one dies...

Then I'll find a Pentium D board, then a Core Duo, and so on :)
