I intend to O/C the beast to 4GHz. All the parts have been ordered (except the Zalman CPU cooler block - waiting for suppliers to to get back to me on that) and the case, RAM, vid card, mobo, OS, PSU have arrived. The CPU is shipping from the USA as Intel have stealthily ceased production of the Q9660s (less than 6 months after launching them). There are none left for sale in NZ, nor any more ever coming. Whole shebang ended up costing me just over 1/2 what an i7/DDR3 system (without the case) would. Slapped it on the credit card and next month I will pay that off by transferring it to my overdraft, thereby paying no interest on the credit card and less than 1/2 the credit card interest rate on the overdraft. Hopefully I can clear that debt before the rig is obsolete.

My next upgrade will be a new case. This current one, which used to house my Athlon XP rig, barely fits the 8800 GT so I'll need to upgrade my case before I jump to something in the 200 series. I also need room for more 1Tb drives to expand my RAID 5

Don't have the heart to put up a P4 (786) yet since they're still worth using. I have a few at the house but they still work so when one dies...
