I'm going to switch to Windows 7 64-bit next month and upgrade my graphics card to something like the Geforce GTX 285 or maybe the next gen Nvidia card if it isn't outrageously expensive. I like running games at 1920 x 1200 and the 512 MB on my current card is a bit weak for that resolution.

Hey Ray do you happen to have a link to that case? If not, about how much did it cost?

-Do not buy the speakers I have listed, they are completely garbage.
-Do not buy the OCZ ram sticks as they can become faulty.. I've run into trouble with them in the past, but they seem to have corrected themselves.
-Corsair Vengeance Headset is a really good headset for voice communication - not so great with music as it doesn't really have too much bass

Krypto wrote:.....I had no idea this monitor of mine has speakers.....where the F...?

Mine has speakers too, they're located in the back and they sound worse than laptop speakers. Don't use em!

Updated 'Rig' in my profile (with the Newegg #s), unlike some lazy peoples.

Out of the boxes and into my case then, in the sexy (mouse enabled) Intel Visual BIOS, moved the 'Overclock Assistant' CPU speed slider to 4GHz and set the RAM to use its XMP #3.
Windows 7 installed painlessly (updating it took longer) and I just finished a quick stress test with RealTemp/Prime95

Re: What's your gaming rig?

Looking to replace both my 10 year old laptop and my XP single-core secondary gaming rig, I have also splashed some cash this week. Purchased an Alienware 17 (M17XR5) from Dell.

Alienware 17 Laptop 4th Generation Intel Core i7-4900MQ Processor (Overlocked, 8MB Cache, up to 4.0GHz w/ Turbo Boost);
16GB Dual Channel DDR3L at 1600MHz;
500GB (8GB Hybrid, 5400 RPM, 64MB Cache) SATA 6Gb/s w/NCQ NVIDIA; *
Windows 8.1 (64Bit) English; Slot-Loading Dual Layer DVD Burner (9.5mm);
Broadcom 4352 802.11 ac 2x2 and Bluetooth 4.0;
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M with 2GB GDDR5;
Integrated Digital 7.1 Surround Audio Support;
8-cell Lithium Ion (86 wHr) Battery;
Alienware Non-VPT Keyboard English International;
17.3 inch (439.42 mm) WLED FHD

It was a reduced price "returned unopened" pre-built product that I found by manipulating this this Australian Dell web link.
I went to the local (NZ) Dell Shop web page and accepted the "Chat with Dell now" popup, then gave the agent the Bundle # and URL saying "I want to buy it".
Cost $2089 NZD delivered from Australia (arrived less than 36 hours after placing the order).
Would have been $3499 NZD if I bought it through Dell NZ Shop Portal (customized to the same specifications).

* I have also ordered a Samsung 840 EVO MZ-7TE750BW 2.5" 750GB SSD for it (last night when the price at one local supplier dropped $115 to $575 NZD).
