Supreme commander 2

Post by Solid Rock »

So Sup Comm 2 is coming out in a couple of days, or earlier today if you live on the wrong side of the pond. Amidst hardly any advertising compared to the storm of banner ads that heralded the first games.

Seems they've done a lot to smooth the game out, the graphics have actually been dowgraded compared to the original game which means it may just be playable in multiplayer even if some of the players couldnt afford 8 core 3 ghz processors which is definitely a plus. Aside from this the tech tiers also been done away with in favour of a tech tree and a sort of experience bar next to your resources. All in all it looks like a nice followup and for once streamlining has not meant "we dumbed it down for the console kids".

The art directions also taken a bit of an anime kinda inspiration which i am gunna go right ahead and blame on square enix, but its still all looks rather familiar.

Only got one pet peeve to point out so far, I fucking hate the weird chunky looking armour they gave the UEF commanders in the cinematics. Not only does it look like a cardboard box robot costume but why the fuck would you even wear armour when you spend all your time locked in a 30 meter tall fucking mech?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread... but I posted about Total Annihilation and while reading that page, found it's "spiritual successor" was Supreme Commander. Since I couldn't find that on Steam, but Supreme Commander 2 was, I figured I'd ask...

How is this game? I suddenly really miss TA...

Supreme Commander is superior to its sequel in many ways, not the least of wich being in the graphics department. SC2 is less demanding on your system however, playing the first game on some of the largest maps could quickly ground even the best systems to a halt, especially in multiplayer.

Im afraid SC2 is a bit of a forgetable RTS with a lot of bad press, still a good game but SC1 is much better.
