Why would Mythic be running Star Wars?

pfff not mythic, but EA are and they are a major reason warhammer failed, they forced it to be released far to early with half the content missing so 75% of the population left, and bioware havn't exactly been anygood for warhammer since they started working with mythic, in fact other than a completely useless broken forum they've done jack shit.... though in all fairness if they HAVE done anything its all bad cos if anything things got much worse since bioware got involved, all the worst breaks (or fixes as they laughingly call them) have come since bioware got involved...

Basically trusting anything those scummy shits EA make is just going to end up with you wasting your money.

Thanks for your input, even though it's pointless shit :)

My opinion is that star wars will probably suck, but that just because I've been so worn down into thinking any MMO with hype is going to suck balls these days :(

However, I will buy it and I will play it purely for the fact Star Wars have never failed to entertain me with there story/lore. That shall keep me entertained for a while ;)

That was a little... hostile. Solid Rock is correct, the merger that happened few years back between Bioware and Mythic was mostly in name only. Warhammer is still completely Mythic's project. Bioware didn't "take over" Warhammer they have had their hands full with Star Wars: The Old Republic. Some people have been yanked from Mythic to Bioware to work during the crunch time for SWTOR but that is business as usual for the dreaded crunch between studios; many freelancers right now are getting tapped for it too.

EA is certainly not one of my favorite MMO publishers but that's an old stigma, they have come a long way since EA Spouse. EA actually had a very hands off approach to WAR; Mythic was given a reasonable time frame and budget. The "failing" of Warhammer (and I personally don't consider a game failed till it's shut down) is a story as old as time. Some of Mythic's upper management got blinded by too much power and made many, many, many bad decisions. It wasn't Bioware's fault, Not EA's fault and heck not even 90% of Mythic's fault - but it happened and it sucked.

Sorry for the continued off topic, maybe we should break this into another thread "Bitching at WAR and Weird Pot Shots at SWTOR" :P

Not sure what people are going on about with WAR, its a perfectly good game. Wasnt a WOW killer like some people were hyping it to be before launch but its by no means a bad game, nor would it seem to be a financial failure either. The only signifigant fault i kind find with the game was in their giving GOA the contract for european operations, and they got fired a while back.

The EA that buys up everything and uses dirty tricks to squeeze you for money isnt the same EA that makes games. Because EA has grown by gradually buying up smaller developers they are made up of a multitude of more or less independent development studios who usually continue making games just as they did before they were bought out.

Trouble dont start untill they disband a studio and give their IP to someone else, as was the case with Westwood. A golden goose like BioWare is in no danger here though, and EA management being the smart bugger they are theyll probably keep their hands out of the actual development progress. The worst well see is probably an item store of some sort from their side.

::nods:: Same with Activism / Blizzard and NCsoft / Arena Net. Publishers have gotten wise enough not to screw with their cash cow studios.

Trust me warhammer is dead, its been about 3 week since the community manager said a thing, theres been no producers letter for 3 months and the only patches of late have fucked things up more than ever, for example a huge nerf patch not tested at all and after 56 pages in a dev discussion post with no devs listening they locked it... though thats not EAs fault, its the fault of whichever idiot hired the devs and support staff, hell the head producer hasnt posted in about 3 or more months but her twitter is full of xbox achievements and how much she loves playing WoW

If I believed every "Trust me -insert game here- is dead", then there would be no MMO's left standing; including the 800 pound gorilla.

Not hearing from a company around late October to early January is pretty normal for every game - it's mass vacation time for the holidays for everyone in house and a break from the usual crunch times. The only games that haven't been quiet are WoW because they released a December Expansion (an oddity in the industry) and any game that is launching Q1/Q2 because they are in crunch time (Like RIFT and SWTOR).

What will be really telling for Warhammer is EA's third quarter financial reports being published February 1, 2011.

everyone is entitled to their own opinions and ideas. no need to get all hostile just because someone wants to try a game you don't like :)

Didnt War release a major content patch mid November? Wouldnt call that nothing, as Moonlit said theyr just coming off a major holiday and the lead producer might just have been reasigned to another project. Certainly isnt uncommon to reasign the lead members of a dev team some time after a game has launched.
