Free PC Copy of Brink for Retailer Employees
I don't know if any of you were looking into this game, but I thought I'd link anyway. Gamestop, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart employees can all receive a free PC copy of Brink. It's a retailer survey, something similar to what we did when I worked at Staples for a free OEM copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. If you have any friends who work at these places, let them know. My friend said it was a quick 5 minutes and shipping was the only payment out of his pocket.

I actually bought it and I'm having more fun with it then I do in GA. Although don't expect anything new in the way of game play. Other than being able to run in a neat fashion there is nothing new here as far as a FPS goes.

Game is pretty, parkour feature is cool.
Different body types, a good degree of weapon/character customization, and the optional mission tasks are nicely implemented.
We should do some games together

Re: Free PC Copy of Brink for Retailer Employees
Some serious issues regarding Multiplayer though.
I was thinking of grabbing it, looked up the reviews and it appears the game is unplayable on Xbox (Maybe so on PC, not sure. Definitely issues).
The whole game is P2P not dedicated servers. Even with connection lights green to all players it's unplayable. Gives the feeling they never had an external beta test. Not even a friends and family release. Not to mention the insane bugs/exploits I read about. Any class can use any weapon? Basically a TF2 Scout with a Heavy machine gun...

Could still work if its done properly, if the heavy MG gimps movement speed for example it would negate the advantage that any scout type class has, making it infeasible.Pantho wrote:Any class can use any weapon? Basically a TF2 Scout with a Heavy machine gun...

I've not played, only read the review. So unless I'm incorrect you missed the part where I was talking about an exploit to do it...Solid Rock wrote:Could still work if its done properly, if the heavy MG gimps movement speed for example it would negate the advantage that any scout type class has, making it infeasible.Pantho wrote:Any class can use any weapon? Didn't miss it, with the punctuation I though you where talking about two separate issues.Pantho wrote:I've not played, only read the review. Anyway glitches are almost to be expected this early after release, specially if they rushed the beta a bit. I'm sure it wont take long before the majority of the exploits get patched out.

Re: Free PC Copy of Brink for Retailer Employees
It looks as if several of you own the game. We should team up on a server sometime and see how well we'd work. I'm currently rank 3 level 12 with most points invested into medic and universal.
EDIT: Whose Steam ID don't I have yet? Add me: Zalaz86
As far as many of the bugs, they're already being addressed at a good rate. Day 1 consisted of laggy server browsing and a character deletion issue, to which both were fixed the very next day. I think the next batch of fixes are going to be in relation to the audio dropouts on certain maps that many are experiencing as well as the ATI video card issues that are preventing many from playing. Regardless if the game does feel a but on the beta side, I believe the PC version will continue to thrive due to the dedicated Enemy Territory community that has always existed.
While I did tend to skip Quake Wars for the most part, I appreciate how Splash Damage improves the concepts on their ET team based formula while still sticking to what the players know and love.

8+2 missions for each side of the conflict, in addition to challenge maps that are mostly driven by single objective.Solid Rock wrote:Does it have some worthwhile singe player?

The single player content can be finished in a couple of nights of casual play. I will write more of a review over the weekend once I have more time.

Re: Free PC Copy of Brink for Retailer Employees
Bought it, and stayed up for the steam unlock.
Must say i was a bit disapointed to see that the campaign was just a set of multiplayer maps with bots and a couple of cinematics tacked on either end. Challenges are much cooler, and i wish there were more of them complete with new swag .
Have yet to play multi, im still having far too hard a time deciding on a weapon setup. Dont really like the MG's they just dont seem all that effective and their ammo capacity is too low.

Re: Free PC Copy of Brink for Retailer Employees
Brink is good but multiplayer is horrid atm especially on consoles , its basically tf2 with an update but also on the mention of classes its true a "heavy" can play as a spy but they also take the same effects a heavy would get i.e slow movement cant jump but in return takes alot of hits they did this to basically to make it fair for everyone to play in their own style. But overall its a good game just need to look past the bugs that it has
