Tera

So istead of talking about it cos to me it just looks like another Asian MMO brought over to the west.

Im going to let you watch a few gameplay videos of this very RYL-esq FPSish fantasy mmo.

Im not sold but there maybe a few that are.

Random gameplay video from a melee toon - apparently third person fighter thingy with button smashing.

In all honesty i have no idea about the game, i just know RYL was well recieved.

Ill be trying it during the open beta come the 20th. Seems like it has a very nice selection of character customization but that's all I really know about it. Wouldn't mind a new game but haven't really found anything I've been addicted to since NC except World of Tanks.

Can't fit in the open beta weekend to my schedule, but please let me know how it goes. Real tempted to play this but would like a NCer's perspective.

So far I'm only a lvl 12 Slayer. Its a DPS class that swings a huge sword and uses evasion and leather aka medium armor. I really like attacking and the system is like a bit of a slower action game. Mobs are piss easy so far but I am low level. PVP wise all I've done is been ganked and done some yanking./saving a couple people. Even being ganked is fun, similar to classic WoW PVP in how your always keeping an eye out. Also if you see someone who's Red aka Outlaw, look out. That is a PVPer who told the Gods to piss off so he can attack anyone he or she pleases. Chat wise, welcome to Barrens Chat 2.0 'nuff said. Quests are pretty linear so far and the story isn't too bad.

Graphics wise the characters look pretty awesome and the cities and lands do too. It also runs pretty well on high even in the city with lots of folks. Some slowdown but less then I imagined. Its also fast loading.

Only downside are those Elin characters. I swear that's just for a bunch of fucking pedophiles. Nature spirits that look like little kids with short dresses and obvious panty flashes? I almost expect Chris Hansen to barge in and go "HI IM CHRIS HANSEN FROM DATELINE NBC. TAKE A SEAT! "

Not for sure yet but I may just buy it. It is fun and worth a shot.

You just buy the EU version of the game on the EU webpage. Digital release.
Whether standard or collectors edition.

Would, but I already bought the US version. Not too amped about buying another copy anytime soon unless the EU version goes on sale close to the subscription fee. Also, given how important evading attacks are, I'm concerned about the lag going across the Atlantic.

So opinions from those who play(ed) this please?

I'm asking as Best Buy has a deal of the day on this game for 7.99. Worth it? It's still subscription model right?

I had fun for my included free month with the game. The combat is more action-RPGish what with dodging and positioning. I'd buy it for $8 and give it a whirl (and look at gratuitous fan service).

However, all other aspects were very, very traditional (and overdone) MMO flair. Lots of text questing, kill X of Y, delivery A to B... So in a nutshell combat kept me hooked (which is nice cause that's what you do most of the time) but once that new-factor wore off it didn't hold my attention any longer.

Thanks for replying. I ended up passing on it (busy that day actually so tough to get to the store) since I don't think I honestly have the time for it. I like the idea of the action combat a lot, but some of the stuff in the game seemed meh. Thanks!
