Re: Please answer this question
This argument is completly pointless...
From a stupid question which some "leading" pyscologist believes proves if you have homocidal tendancies or not ...
To religion = war
To the history of a young country
Altho, to randomly add The british empire was more than twice the size of the current USA (population terms, way way to lazy to check land mass) in 1945...
Since 1945 to the <insert word> of hong kong the british empire fell in 700m external population, compared to a current population of 308m in USA (Population was according to 2005, so depending how many babies bla bla bla bla).
The last addition helps just as much towards virgils post as the rest does.

Re: Please answer this question
Texas was the 28th state and Alaska was the 49th.. sooo.. I still don't see the connection. Like I said, only 16 became states before 1800 and thus your argument that most states had their constitutions within 10 years of the US constitution is wrong.Ghandi wrote:They were purchased or signed a treaty many years after the U.S. constitution was enstated
Yes and? I pointed that out in my post.. You can go by the other list I linked to with the dates of statehood for a rough estimate of when their original constitution was ratified.Ghandi wrote:EDIT: and for posterities sake, the list that you provided is misleading. The constitutions that are listed are are the "current" constitutions. I.E. Alabama's constitution first constitution was ratified in 1819 and developed more than two decades before it's ratification. The list shows the current constitution in effect as 1901 (which is correct). It shows New Hampshire as 1793, yet it was 1784...etc.

Re: Please answer this question
Because the other constitutions weren't authored by the founding father's. And any other document written by these men, while relevant in the larger context, is irrelevant to the extent of the mentioning of god within the constitution.Ghandi wrote:Why is it that you think that only one document can be used to discover the views of the men that founded the country? Pretty rediculous considering that a person in search of the truth would read every document they could get their hands on to discover it.Solid Rock wrote:Mind you in this context only the one federal constitution is relevant as the question concerned the wievs of the founding fathers on the subject of religion.

Also, did anyone actually stop and think, wait a minute ...
That's also the logical answer (I mean Virgils question).
Which, vast majority of meditated murders are actually logical thinking & or very intellegient.

Am I the only one that thinks this thread has gone on too long, even for the spam forum? I mean the Nazi's were invoked on page 3. Is there an internet law about ending a thread once that happens?

No spam forum thread can ever become to long, however there is a mandatory random subject switch every 10 or so posts.

Re: Please answer this question
My distaste is for anyone of religion, its just Christians i have had the most interaction with. I will admit that there are a large amount of people who believe in religion and are not crazy but they could do well with their life if they didnt have the religion. There would be less arguements from otherwise rational people about irrational things.Ghandi wrote:well my problem is that a person can change their religion, they cant change the color of their skin or sexual preference. I would say any religious person is out of touch with reality. The united states constitution may have invoked the name god but knowing how the founding fathers lived they would be sickened to see god on everything. I support the removal of god from our courts, money, ect. If i was asked to be on trial i would not swear on the bible and i am within my rights to do so.satransisuu wrote:
I hate to drag a dead horse (and if it's not dead, I'm sure to kill it here), but I would like to rebut your post. Your original post stated that you hated Christians. This is much like me saying I hate blacks, gays, or Muslims. Of course this is ridiculous. Why would I hate somebody simply because of the color of their skin, sexual preference, or in some cases the religion they were born into? I also wanted to point out how homogenized the word "Christian" has become. Just because people glom the word Christian on to their profile doesn't make it so. Again Aryan Nation, KKK, are very good examples of that.
Our founding fathers came from england where judges invoked the law of the church to execute people which they knew was wrong. They have been quoted having said many things aginst religion
Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because if there be one he must approve of the homage of reason more than that of blindfolded fear. Jefferson
Religious controversies are always productive of more acrimony and irreconcilable hatreds than thsoe which spring from any other cause. Washington

Yep, i invoked godwins law on solid, it states : as a discussion becomes larger, the probubility that a compairison to nazi's or hitler approaches 1. I invoked it because he stated something about some funny nazi picture being a classic, all in good humor.
