Barneys next great plan!
Ok heres my next great plan! pirates in EVE! just started playing and its actually pretty technical, so many types of weapons and disabling, tracking equipment and the such. Basically i think it could be fun to make a gang of pirates fighting our way across space killing everybody in our path!. And for those who think it would take years to be competative, it only take a couple months or so to get very good at using 1 type of ship, people playing longer just have more options of ships.

I have tried Eve a couple of times, but it is just way to slow for my tastes.

It's actually really good fun, I'm surprised I never got into it. Alpha was great and I spent a good few hours raping people as a sniper in it. Used to love being the Cloak/Jump feature of snipers.war-barney wrote:I just aint sure, not sure if its just badly done vids but it looks like counter strike but in the future. Use the cloaked high jump, pop your jetpack while you're still accelerating up. This saved massive amounts of fuel that was needed to get you ascending at a decent speed, meaning you could fly really high to places only a sniper can reach. No idea if it's still like that, I hope so!

hmmm mite download the free trial and give it a wee test, EVE looks like it could be fun BUT there is the problem that its only fun really after a few months so you have a good ship till then it seems im stuck mining as ratting is out of the window after learning only places worth ratting are in places full of groups of 10 people who kill you stone dead in seconds due to a billion times better ships. Its sort of like neocron except you have no hope and its very easy for people to find you as its a small amounts of spots they need to chck

Well if your learned to hide it would be signifigantly harder for people to find you. Its possible setup hiding spots in deep space meaning that enemies will have to send out probes to scan you down, a process which can take some time especially when looking for a lone pilot and most people simply wont bother.war-barney wrote:hmmm mite download the free trial and give it a wee test, EVE looks like it could be fun BUT there is the problem that its only fun really after a few months so you have a good ship till then it seems im stuck mining as ratting is out of the window after learning only places worth ratting are in places full of groups of 10 people who kill you stone dead in seconds due to a billion times better ships. Theres a lot of tricks to making it in EVE that your pretty much screwed without, i recomend finding someone to mentor you. Its the best way of learning the tricks of the trade, especially if you want to be a pirate. (Think Pantho used to be somewhat of a pirate)
Oh, and doing missions is a somewhat lower paying but much safer alternative to ratting. And you get to build up corporation standing which is nescesarry for things like jump clones.

And anywhere remotely close to safe space will have groups of 10-40 with warp bubbles camping the gates.Solid Rock wrote:Well if your learned to hide it would be signifigantly harder for people to find you. Ah yes, one of the most important tricks is knowing where your supposed to stay the hell away from.Pantho wrote:And anywhere remotely close to safe space will have groups of 10-40 with warp bubbles camping the gates.Solid Rock wrote:Well if your learned to hide it would be signifigantly harder for people to find you. I used to jump around there at only 1.5m SP
Vexor drone ship with high armor skills, worked pretty well. Didn't make money, but it's a cheap ship to play with and get some great experience at pvp.

Re: Barneys next great plan!
iv moved onto a new plan now, level 3 cruiser (the 1 thats 5mil and looks like a gun) full of turrets and missles with a bomb on it then just hunt narcotic warehouses until i can afford a battleship.
Oh and i learned the hard way how bad bombs can be... was attacking a pirate in a belt and used 1 after some miners drones came to help me out... didnt even get a chance to warp off
