Conn is buggered

I wont be able to do anything ingame that requires anything but sitting down and loming for the next while. My con is completely bolloxed. The service is advertised as a 1mb service, yet I can get no downloads over 30k/s, usually nearer 20, and myingame ping is fluctuating between 200 and 800. Twas ok for about 2 maybe 3 weeks but has now dropped off again drastically. I cant play with this lag, its completely pointless, so until it is fixed Im afraid you wont be able to rely on me for anything. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Did your ISP recognize the problem as being on their end?

it is on their end, i have hundreds of trace routes and pings to prove it

fed up of it at this stage. too unreliable.

just to show u how buggered my internet connection is i did a ping to boards.ie (irish forums thing) and got this

now u can see why im bitching about it so much, 1mb my arse

This is what I do when setting up a new broadband connection for myself or friends......

Make sure your router/modem and/or computer are pingable then go to dslreports.com and run the tests there in this order;

Starting with http://www.dslreports.com/linequality which should show any problems within your ISP's network or if the problem is between your modem and computer.

To use the other tests you need there, you will have to install sun java plugin http://java.com/en/index.jsp.

Speed test http://www.dslreports.com/stest will show your u/d speed to/from USA.

Tweak test http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks will tell you what alterations to make to improve your connection (as long as you enter the correct information.

DrTCP021 Tool to tweak your connection http://www.dslreports.com/drtcp

If you read and follow the instructions and info you find at each of those pages you will be able to (A) find out where your problems are with your ISP and (B) maximise the transfer rate of your connection by tweaking your TCP RWIN and MaxMTU sizes.

Rerun tests to check improvements then make yourself unpingable again when you are happy.
