Interested in thoughts purely on the basis of gaming vs. real life experiences and any correlation to violence. Please try to leave politics and war out of this if possible.

Good article with some great points. As a parent, I allow my son to play mostly the same xbox games that I do, including Halo 2. However, I do limit his time to only a few hours a day and encourage him to read or play with his other toys.

That's definitely the way it should be done. With the games, I feel you're training your mind to work in a certain way on multiple levels. With reading and other learning activities, you're training your mind to work in that certain way on specific things, and correlate them with eachother. One without the other leads to a development imbalance.
