Android Apps
I was just curious if anyone else has an android phone, and if so what apps/games you have or like the best. So far i have only been using free apps, since im too cheap to actually pay for anything.
The pandora app is great for listening to music, shazam for identifying songs when im actually listening to a radio.
I use google maps, gps status, and gps speedometer when im in the car, since im always driving to new places and my car's speedometer isnt very accurate.
Transdroid is for monitoring my bittorrents running on my desktop, and pdanet is for tethering my phone to my laptop for internet service, worked great when we were at my inlaws in the middle of nebraska with their crappy isp.
And for games, I am addicted to Cestos. Radiant is cool, but i've only played the lite version, might actually pay for the full, same with winds of steel. Air control had my interest for a while, but i havent played it lately. I havent tried nesoid lite (nes emulator) yet, i have to move some roms from my computer onto the phone sometime.
If you have a android phone and dont know what any of these are, search for them in the marketplace, they're all free.
btw I have the motorola droid , has anyone gotten the incredible yet?

Re: Android Apps
I was going to get the Incredible but I didn't feel like waiting 3 weeks for a new phone when my old one was starting to die. Got the Droid myself. Actually replying from it now.
For apps, check out Where. It's great for getting coupons for stores around you to save a good amount of money. WiFi Buddy is pretty helpful if you use wifi a lot. I love Astrid for a task list.
For games, check out Robo Defense for a fun tower defense.
And I'm with you. I haven't bought a single thing yet. All free apps.

Re: Android Apps
I got a Samsung Moment a few weeks ago and I love it. It's not a "Droid" but it uses the Android OS. Verizon just got the drop on the marketing by coining the title. I've got Robo Defense, Radiant, Replica Island(decent side scroller), Sudoku Free by genina.com, Mahjong by Magma Mobile(lots of different patterns), Winds of Steel and Space Trader(in the same vein as Drug Wars from back in the day). I also picked up "Zombie, Run!", which is a program that randomly spawns zombies over a GPS map as a way of adding excitement for getting from A to B. Comes with variable zombie speeds and livens up my walks with Moon. I also picked up a notepad app, AK Notepad, that you can sync with Snaptic to post notes directly to your laptop. I found it quite useful as it actively saves as your typing. Still going through the Market but a program would have to really grab my attention for me to buy it. There's so many programs out there already and more being made every day.

I forgot to mention what I think is one of the most useful apps out there, Dropbox. I think it's great that I can sync a file on my computer and then download it directly to my phone without even plugging it in.

Re: Android Apps
Has anyone tried 'rooting' their droid yet? Im not sure exactly what that does, but it seems to me like installing a custom os, or at least making the original os more customizable, like more home screens, more complex backgrounds, as well as using some special apps. I havent tried it yet, but im definitly leaning towards trying it. Im just worried about bricking my droid

Re: Android Apps
I heard they were going to make using your phone as a portable hotspot a paid service, I guess they decided not too, thats cool...
Didnt see anything about being able to run java apps inside of the browser, which is one of the biggest things that annoys me that I cant do, but the video was short so maybe its been fixed.
"....unconfirmed report from Verizon Wireless that the company will begin upgrading its first Motorola Droid to the new OS by July 13."

Re: Android Apps
i have traded in my at%t fuze/htc rafael/touchpro windows phone for the sleek and stylish (and expensive) nexus 1. best phone ive ever owned. im still learnin how to use it, but the apps ive downloaded so far are hilarious to say the least. now i just have to figure out how to uninstall and save apps to the sd card. i had an issue connecting to my google account when i first opend the box. had to get on my wifi because theres very little reception in my appartment. while i was tinkering with my aformentioned issue a lil dialog box popped up and said there was an update available and ready to install. so i said ok, and now my phone works better than ever. instantly connected to google and now im rockin on the android market. first thing i downloaded was the free kindle app. im an avid star wars novel buff. then i downloaded the shotgun thing and the litesaber thing and the magic 8ball, bunch of soundboards ect ect. now im lookin for the pda tetherin thing, and the wireless hotspot thing and i think im all set. oh and have to put my sim card back in my old phone to download my contacts then upload them to the new phone. think ill do that now

Re: Android Apps
I am sporting a non-rooted Nexus with Froyo on it, few good apps to make it fun.
Battery Indicator / Task Manager / NYtimes + other newprint app /NewScientist / GoogleMaps NAV(Brut)/ blackjack / XiiaLive lite (ShoutCast streaming ftw )
I was using Fring (3g Voip through skype and all the other instant msging clients packaged neatly in one) till they had an e-pean war with Skype and stopped supporting it. Probably will try Nimbuzz, or wait for Skype Android app this fall (hopefully).
Itching for an Android tablet with 3g suppor now

I hate to be a downer, but you guys do know that the phone was discontinued being slated as "unsuccessful" by Google, right?
