FN wrote:I hate to be a downer, but you guys do know that the phone was discontinued being slated as "unsuccessful" by Google, right?
actully fn that site isnt telling the whole story and is misleading to say the least. google has gotten out of the phone selling biz because they thought they could "take over" that business. but they found out there was more too it and didnt want to invest so much into it, so they got out after only 7 months. the phone itself isnt being discontinued, u can still get it from t-moble, and soon verizon and most likely at&t as well as overseas vodaphone in europe, and some other place in korea. what u WONT be able to get is the phone "UNLOCKED" like u could if u bought it from google. the phone itself was a succes in the fact that it did what they wanted it to do. push the market into making better phones. when this phone debuted in january it was the first of its type, and only recently the droid x is the only other android phone that can hold a candle to it. now im doing my own comparisons between the nexus 1 and iphones 3gs and 4. my gf just got her iphone 4 yesterday, so we are still learning it since the both of us came from the windows mobil family. so far i lov the nexus 1. its speed and depth is something very new when coming from windows version phones. its mind blowing tbh. the iphone 4 seems ok, but i think since my phone is unlocked i have an unfair advantage. but time will tell when jailbreak progs are realeased for the iphone 4 so i can really see what it can do.
I R ALPHA!!!! or in other words H.N.I.C...... if ya didn't know, betta axe sumbodeh!
and honestly, it means nothing. google only put a name on the phone, they didnt make it, htc did, they never offered any tech support or anything. they simply made an os, and provided an app market for the apps to be had. that will not change. they can discontinue the phone, that doesnt mean the phone will stop working or get updated lol. google isnt the service provider, and actually u dont even need a service provider to use the phone. all u need is wifi to get updates and downloads from the android market. but u cant purchase anthing w/o a sim card or make calls so basically it would be an ipod touch

What mace said.
I bought it since it was unlocked and offered superior tech to Motorola at that time (mid spring).
Desire is exact same tech with just slightly different OS package, so meh.
I needed a phone that supported HSDPA 900 / 1700 / 2100 for a new Canadian provider and i got it
I' ve used Berry for 4 years and stopped liking it completely.
Google will sell N1 through retail stores now, it discontinued online sales only.
and oh yea, my android choices are very limited for at&t backflip and aria. n1 kills both those phones. i could have gotten an iphone 4, but who wants to wait 2 weeks? sharon did tho. fact is, the n1 is the phone ive been eyeing since i first heard of it back in jan/feb. just got the money to purchase it a few weeks ago tho now all these droids poppin up on verizon and sprint, not fair i tell ya lol
