SWTOR Pre-Order - Who's there?
So,
I pre-ordered SWTOR and I was pretty pissed that about Origins charging $5 to pre-order the damn game, however I pre-ordered then realised how much cheaper it is at my local Game store (Literally $20-30). So I cancelled my order.
However that was on the 21st and I got a refund on the 21st, tried my code today and it activated. So possible free game is win , if not I'll just buy another copy of the game.
Anyway, who pre-ordered / plans to play SWTOR?

Re: SWTOR Pre-Order - Who's there?
Um, I am pretty sure that the $5 is a hold fee just like GameStop and many others charge (heck the CE hold fee I think is $25). I am pretty used to that with preorders.
The price is not more at Origins. You are not comparing the game editions apples to apples and are most like comparing the Digital Deluxe Edition with the Standard Edition.
If you have applied a code to your account for a cancelled game, you will need to call EA CSRs to fix it by removing that code and applying the correct code for the game you are getting. You can only apply one preorder code per account unless you create another account with the other code. However, if you never gett he game with its final game code, that account with the cancelled preorder will do nothing. Plus, I am 99.9% sure that all preorder codes that were sent and then had the order cancelled will not work for Early Access. A cancelled order cancels the code, hence the need to contact support so they can get a valid code applied from where you did finally order the game from. Also, from what I have seen and read, once you get the code, you cannot (so they say) cancel the order (though I know some have been able to), though lots and lots of codes have still been emailed out after orders were cancelled since most like the emails were stuck in a network queue (like mine which was dated the 21st but did not arrive till the 22nd).
And, yes, I have preordered and obviously plan to play (as much as RL will let me sadly).

Hate to dissapoint, but Origins really IS more expensive than buying it literally ANYWHERE else.
There overcharging UK for some reason on the Origin website.
Standard Edition
Digital£44.99
Pre-Order£5.00
The most expensive I've found it elsewhere is £39.99. I also read nothing about getting a refund on the pre-order charge. Couple with UK paying an extra $25 more than US for Deluxe. If I'd have bought collectors edition it would have been $211 and I think it was only $140 for US? I forget exact price.
Just did some googling, I found out that it does state that and preorders cancelled would have the game rejected. It also appears the code I activated was only for the Early Start / Colour Stone and they send you out the CDkey later on or something? Is that right?
I can't find anything official.

I'll even pay for an SXR vent if I have to . I pay for god knows how much other crap so I might as well pay for an extra vent server.

Why would anyone want to use ventrilo, how about we make a channel with really bad sound quality on the ts and ppl can pretend its ventrilo? I just dont get why so many hate ts3, its awsome.
And yeah Im gonna play that game.

And I don't get why people insist Ventrilo has bad sound quality compared to TS. There about the same, I agree I do simply like Ventrilo due to a hate over Teamspeak and every time I use it.Iceborg wrote:Why would anyone want to use ventrilo, how about we make a channel with really bad sound quality on the ts and ppl can pretend its ventrilo? I've hosted both servers and done polls in my community, the majority prefer Ventrilo.
As far as I can tell they both use Speex 32KHz, you probably just used a cheap ass server that limited it to a lower codec. I don't get all the fan boy idiots claiming this does that, this does this, that is crap, this sounds better. I'm not saying you're wrong, but post statistics next time.
To quote the only decent 'non biased' comparison blog I could find : "TS and Ventrilo use the same Speex codec, however the settings in Ventrilo at similar bandwith will produce a much "clearer" voice transmission.".
Anyway, this be a SWTOR thread not a VOIP argument thread, which I did start but w/e.

Sorry Pantho, I forgot you were EU. I was just thinking US prices which I think are the same.
You are right on the code being EA and the stone only right now. The actual final game code will come later with the box or an email if DD.

Eh well least I confirmed my pre-order place, I will rebuy it next week once my card is no longer blacklisted,
And forgive me for correcting you once more, but UK is not considered EU in this case.
EU was shaft a small amount, UK was shafted a larger amount by Origins. Which, considering the amount of sales by the EU & UK in Steam Origins royally fucked up considering it's there first major game release.
They really should have aimed to give a discount to prove they could compete with Steam. Instead of an increase (In which US people also confirm Origins is slightly more expensive than the cheapest US Stores)

exactly!!...TS has always been horrible sound quality to me, then when on a vent server, it's crystal clear like we're talkin over the phone.Pantho wrote:

I wasn't really interested before, but after playing the beta for a bit I might just change my mind. It's actually pretty awesome so far. Though I can't say much for endgame...
